Every year, a Swedish flag is handed over to an organisation for its active role in strengthening Swedish-Latvian ties. This year, the flag was awarded to the Nordic Grammar School in Riga to the the rector Inga Lande and the Swedish language teacher Inga Grezmane. Also the choir on stage is from the Nordic Grammar School.

Ambassador Mats Staffansson wished the 400 guests a joyful evening with Swedish and international music, after the Swedish and Latvian National hymns had been sung by the Nordic Grammar School in Riga.

The beloved Latvian pianist Vestard Shimkus performed with own music, Mozart and Wagner.

Together with the National Opera pianist Martinsh Zilberts, the soprano twin sisters Biljana Staffansson and Liljana Jovanovic gave a concert based on songs written by the Royal Swedish Bernadotte family.

There cannot be a proper National Day celebration without traditional food and the taste of summer...
