In the third game of the Latvian Basketball League (LBL) finals in Thursday, ''VEF Riga'' defeated ''Ventspils'' 74:72, informs LETA.

''VEF Riga'' now leads the best-of-seven series 2-1.

With only two minutes remaining in the game, ''Ventspils'' still had a 69:61 lead, but ''VEF Riga'' was able to fight back to get the win.

The highest scorer for ''VEF Riga'' was Kristaps Janicenoks with 18 points, followed by Earl Rowland with 14 points.

Meanwhile, Folarin Campbell was the highest scorer for ''Ventspils'' with 27 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Janis Timma with 12 points.

The fourth game of the series will be played on Saturday in Ventspils (northwestern Latvia), while the fifth match will be played on Monday in Riga.

Last year, "VEF Riga" beat "Ventspils" 4-1 in the LBL final series.
