Latvian specialist Karlis Muiznieks has become the new head coach of Ukrainian basketball club Yuzhny ''Khimik'', the club has confirmed, cites LETA.

Muiznieks has signed a one-year deal with the club.

Last season, Muiznieks coached Ukrainian basketball club ''Krivbasbasket'', which finished in 9th place in the domestic league.

As reported, Muiznieks became the head coach of ''Krivbasbasket'' at the beginning of last season. He coached Polish basketball club ''Trefl'' before the from 2009 to 2011. From 1999 to 2007, he coached Latvian basketball club ''Ventspils'' on several occasions, and coached Latvian basketball club ''Barons/LMT'' until halfway through the 2008/2009 season. At the same time, Muiznieks has coached the Latvian national men's basketball team and has been an assistant coach on the national women's team.
