Lithuanian milk processing firms halve exports to Belarus in Jan-Aug y-o-y

The head of the Lithuanian dairy association Pieno Centras has denied the myth that Lithuanian dairy products can enter the Russian market via Belarus, LETA/BNS cites Verslo Zinios business daily on Friday.
"This is absolutely impossible today and no products
are exported from Lithuania to Russia. The only possibility is that some
companies have purchased franchise to produce some Lithuanian products,"
said Egidijus Simonis, the head of
the association that unites dairy companies Vilkyskiu
Pienine, Rokiskio Suris and Pieno
Zvaigzdes.
The information is confirmed by exports statistics:
Lithuanian milk processing companies exported merely 717,000 euros worth of
production to Belarus in the first eight months of 2016, down from 1.6 mln
euros y-o-y.
Furthermore, Russia has constantly been warning Belarus
about its plans to cancel imports from the country due to poor quality of products.
