Lithuania's hemp grower Agropro eyes exports to US

Lithuania's organic hemp grower and processor Agropro is planning to ship its first batches to the United States by the end of the year and is in talks on exports to China, LETA/BNS reports according the business daily Verslo Zinios information.

"We have agreements with tens of (US) companies on sample shipments and we are going to send out product samples shortly," Agropro CEO Paulius Parseliunas told the paper on his return from the Natural Products Expo East trade show that was held in Baltimore a week ago.

"We are also planning to ship several batches to would-be potential distributors by the end of this year. We will wait for the results and will start negotiations," he said.


Agropro's key export markets are in Europe, including Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Italy, and talks are underway on exports to China.


The company this year planted over 2,000 hectares of land with hemp grown for fiber, double the area in 2015
