Lembergs still the richest family in Latvia in 2013
The study notes that, although the largest part of properties that belong to the family of Ventspils Mayor Aivars Lembergs is unknown to the public, and the actual value of the Lembergs' properties can only be guessed from materials released by the prosecutor's office, the data the Lembergs have officially declared make it possible to calculate changes in the family's wealth. For instance, the value of Baltimar VT, in which Anrijs Lembergs has an 8.7% stake, has declined 17%, and the value of Liga's company Osmium holdings has also reduced.
The Peskovs family – Aleksandrs, Sergejs, Aleksejs, Jelizaveta, Lubova, Natalija and Olga – is the second richest family in Latvia. The total wealth of the family, which owns Baltikums Bank, has increased EUR 28 million to EUR 71 million in a year's time.
Thanks to higher profit earned by Baltikums Bank – EUR 12.8 million, and the bank's overall successful operations last year, the wealth of the Peskovs family, which controls half of the Baltikums financial group, has also increased.
Kirovs and Anna Lipmans are in third place, their wealth is EUR 70 million, or EUR 2 million more than last year.
The family of former Dobeles dzirnavnieks owner Vitauts Paskausks, which currently owns the Agrolats Holding company, is in fourth place. The total worth of the properties of Vitauts, Janis, Jons and Andris Paskausks has reduced EUR 18 million to EUR 60 million.
The family's agricultural company Agrolats Holding earned a much lower profit last year, EUR 3.27 million, and the value of the company dropped 42% in 2013, according to "Laika stars" estimates.
The Skeles family is in fifth place. The wealth of Andris, Kristiana, Madara Dobraja and Anete Skele is estimated at EUR 57 million – same as last year. The family was involved in several major business transactions last year, and the effect of these transactions on the family's wealth is unclear still.
Further down the list is the family of Natalja, Aleksandrs, Artjoms and Vladims Milovs, the owner of Latvijas novitates komplekss, worth EUR 43 million, the family of businessman Julijs Krumins and his daughter Maija Cernavska – EUR 34 million, and the family of Kargins – Valerijs, Rems and Maksims Kargins – with properties worth EUR 28.5 million.
