Latvia's star athletes Andris Biedrins and Sandis Ozolins have been placed on the list of Latvia's "odd" millionaires, informs LETA.

Andris Biedrins.

Compiling the list are journalists Lato Lapsa and Kristine Jancevska, corporate finance company "Laika stars" and Lursoft. They indicate that those already on the list of Latvia's 100 wealthiest people, cannot be added to the "odd" listing, as the former requires legal title deeds.

"However, the list would be incomplete without them, because no one doubts that the assets these people have could amount to several million euros," the creators of the list pointed out.

The authors also said that the wealthiest Latvian athlete, ex-member of the National Basketball Association, Biedrins, will no longer receive his regular payment of USD 9 million (EUR 7 million). "There is no news of Biedrins being involved in any business or sports projects, nevertheless, his millions will appear sooner or later."

As for Ozolins, the list-makers point to the fact that "he almost did, but in the end refused to get involved in the 'unpromising activities' of the Einars Repse party. Ozolins instead is focusing on business ventures, while the millions he earned from his sports career, "remain hidden from the eyes of the public."
