Latvia registers sixth highest growth in EU in Q3

Latvia registered the sixth highest economic growth in the European Union (EU) in the third quarter, and eighth highest growth year-on-year, according to latest data published by Eurostat, cites LETA.

Latvia's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.4% in the third quarter (same as Lithuania).

 

The highest growth in the third quarter was registered in Romania – 1.9%, Poland – 0.9%, Great Britain and Greece – 0.7%.

 

Estonia's economy grew 0.2% in the third quarter.

 

The EU economy grew by 0.2% the euro area (EA18), and by 0.3% in the EU28, during the third quarter of 2014, compared with the previous quarter.

 

Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, EU economy rose by 0.8% in the euro area and by 1.3% in the EU28 in the third quarter of 2014.

 

Latvia's GDP rose 2.2% year-on-year.

 

The highest year-on-year economic growth was registered in Poland – 3.4%, Romania – 3.3%, and Hungary – 3.1%.

 

Estonia's year-on-year economic growth grew 2.3%, Lithuania's – 2.6%.
