In January–September, exports and imports decreased by 1.5% and 0.3% in Lithuania
The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to LTL 0.4 billion (EUR 0.1 billion).
Over the month (in September 2014, against August), exports increased by 10.3, imports – 11.7%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of cereals (3.4 times), ground vehicles (33.3%), petroleum products (7.3%). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in imports of crude oil (16.2%), ground vehicles (46.9%), boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (9.2%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports of goods increased by 10.9 and 10.6% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 13.6%, mineral products excluded – 16.9%. Exports to Russia decreased by 7.1%, exports of goods of Lithuanian origin – 22.7%. Exports of food and agricultural products (CN sections I–IV) to Russia decreased by 8.1%, exports of food and agricultural products of Lithuanian origin – 19.8% (in August, exports of these products amounted to LTL 36.8 million (EUR 10.6 million), while in September, LTL 29.5 million (EUR 8.5 million)).
Over the year (September 2014, against September 2013), exports and imports increased by 4.7 and 2.1% respectively. The increase in exports and imports was influenced by an increase in exports and imports of electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (74.2 and 48.8% respectively), boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (38.1 and 25.1% respectively). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports increased by 13.9 and 7.9% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 6.4%, mineral products excluded – increased by 5.1%.

In January–September 2014, against the same period of 2013, exports and imports decreased by 1.5 and 0.3% respectively. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (28.9%), ground vehicles (20.2%). The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of crude oil (23.1%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports increased by 7.2 and 9.1% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 9%, mineral products excluded – increased by 3.5%. Exports to Russia increased by 9.1%, exports of goods of Lithuanian origin – decreased by 12.8%; the decrease was influenced by a decrease in exports of milk and dairy products (33.3%), meat and edible meat offal (29.1%), products of meat, fish or crustaceans, molluscs or other aquatic invertebrates (57%). Exports of food and agricultural products (CN sections I–IV) to Russia decreased by 11%, exports of food and agricultural products of Lithuanian origin – 25.2% (in January–September 2013, exports of these products amounted to LTL 904.5 million (EUR 262 million), while in the same period of 2014, LTL 676.2 million (EUR 195.8 million)).
In January–September 2014, the most important partners in exports were Russia (21.5%), Latvia (9.2%), Poland (8.2%) and Germany (7.3%), in imports – Russia (22.2%), Germany (11%), Poland (9.6%) and Latvia (6.8%). Most of goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Germany (10.5%), Latvia (8.3%), the Netherlands (7.5%) and Poland (7.1%).
In January–September 2014, the largest share in exports and imports fell within mineral products (17.7 and 25.6% respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (15.2 and 16.5% respectively), products of the chemical or allied industries (9 and 10.7% respectively). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within mineral products (26.1%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (10%), live animals and animal products (8%), plastics and articles thereof (7.8%).
