In September, construction input prices increased by 1.9% in Lithuania y-o-y

Statistics Lithuania informs that construction input prices in September 2014, against August, decreased by 0.2%. The change was mainly influenced by a 1.1% decrease in wages and salaries which was determined by lower lump sums, bonuses and premiums. Over the year (September 2014, against September 2013), construction input prices increased by 1.9%.

Over a month, prices of building materials and products increased by 0.1%. As for building materials and products, the largest price growth over the month was observed for pipes – 0.7%, fabricated metal products and general building materials – 0.2% each, while prices for wood products dropped by 0.8%, concrete and ferroconcrete products – 0.4%, sanitary engineering and insulation materials – 0.2% each.

 

Hourly labour costs on operation of construction machines and mechanisms remained almost unchanged.

 

As for buildings and structures, the largest price drop was observed for the construction of residential buildings – 0.6%. A 0.5% price drop was observed for the renovation of buildings.

 

Over the year (September 2014, against September 2013), construction input prices increased by 1.9%. It was conditioned by a 4.8% increase in wages and salaries, 1.1% – hourly labour costs on operation of construction machines and mechanisms, 0.8% – prices of building materials and products.

 

As for building materials and products, the largest price growth over the year was observed for concrete and ferroconcrete products – 2.9, wood products – 2.1, general building materials – 1.8, concrete and mortar – 1.5%, while prices for insulation and finishing materials dropped by 1.1% each.

 

As for buildings and structures, the largest price growth over the year was observed for the construction of residential buildings – 2.2%. A 2.4% price growth was observed for the renovation of buildings.

The influence on the overall change in construction input prices is determined not only by change in the construction input component price but also by the relative share (weight) of that component in the total value of construction.
