Government declaration in Latvia stipulates viable economic growth to increase residents' welfare

The emerging government's draft declaration stipulates that the government's main priority could be ensuring viable economic growth in order to increase residents' welfare and sense of belonging to Latvia, according to information acquired by LETA.

Among almost 200 items of the draft declaration, it says that that the next government will continue the current Cabinet of Ministers' policy which is based on economic growth, fiscal responsibility, macroeconomic stability, sustainability, social and territorial integrity, and cooperation among industries.

 

Coalition partners could still discuss whether the declaration should provide that the government's main priority is to ensure fast and viable economic growth based on increased employment and higher productivity in order to achieve that Latvia's growth facilitate every family and resident's welfare, trust in, and belonging to Latvia.

 

The draft declaration also stipulates that the government could implement various shadow economy prevention measures by actively combating tax evasion and under-the-table payments. In order to improve companies' competitive capacity, the Cabinet of Ministers could confirm a special program in order attract more funds for enterprises and facilitate investment in innovation and scientific projects.
