Latvian FinMin: gross wages to increase by 4.5% in 2015

The average gross wage in the Latvian national economy will in 2015 increase 4.5% at current prices, the Finance Ministry's experts predict, cites LETA.

This year, the average monthly gross wage is estimated at EUR 766.3, and it could increase to EUR 800.8 next year.

 

In 2016, the average gross wage should be around EUR 840.8, believes the Finance Ministry.

 

According to the Central Statistical Bureau's data for August, in the second quarter of 2014, the average gross monthly wage in Latvia increased 6.4%, from EUR 716 to EUR 762, as compared to the second quarter of 2013. In the first quarter of 2014, the annual salary growth was 7.5% – from EUR 689 to EUR 740.

 

The Finance Ministry's experts also say that unemployment will decrease slightly in the coming years. This year, unemployment rate is expected at around 10.8%, it will decrease to 10.1% in 2015 and 9.5% in 2016.
