Pay gap between men, women deepens to 12.5% in Lithuania in 2013
Statistics Lithuania has announced that in business enterprises pay gap was even larger and stood at 16.3%, i.e. decreased by 0.3 percentage points compared to 2012.
Pay gap between men and women in the public sector (except public administration, defence and compulsory social security) stood at 13.3%. in 2013. In private sector it was by 2.5 percentage points higher reaching 15.8%.
The largest pay gap in 2013 was among companies engaged in financial and insurance services (39.9%), information and communications (27.8%), manufacturing (25.7%), health care and social work (22.3%), wholesale and retail trade (22.3%), motor vehicle and motorcycle repairs (22.3%), and other services (20.9%).
Pay gap was mostly caused by social and economical but not legal factors, the number of men and women engaged in certain activities, their profession, education, age, work experience etc.
