4.7% more Lithuanians travelled abroad in Q2

Based on preliminary data, 413,800 Lithuanian residents travelled abroad in the second quarter of 2014, i.e. by 4.7% more year-on-year. According to the data of Statistics Lithuania, 51% of tourists were men and 49% were women, writes LETA/ELTA.

The number of travels abroad increased by 5.4% in the second quarter of 2014 year-on-year. Lithuanian residents left for 512,000 trips, 79,700 of them (15.6% or by 23.7% more than in the second quarter of 2013) were journeys organised by travel agencies and tour operators.

 

In the second quarter of 2014, 78% of trips were personal purpose and 22% were business trips. Year-on-year 5.8% more people travelled abroad on personal purpose.

 

Outbound tourists spent LTL 730.1 million (EUR 211.4 million) in the second quarter of 2014, or by 0.6% compared with the identical period of 2013. The average amount spent per person was LTL 1,426 (EUR 413). One tourist on average spent 6.2 nights abroad. In the second quarter of 2013 the figures were LTL 1,494 (EUR 433) and 7.6 nights respectively.

 

In the second quarter of 2014 most outbound tourists travelled to Latvia (72,400 people or 14.1% of the total outbound tourists), Poland (50,400 or 9.8%), Belarus (40,500 or 7.9%), the United Kingdom (40,100 or 7.8%), Germany (36,700 or 7.2%) and Turkey (35,000 or 6.8%).
