The foreign trade deficit amounted to LTL 0.7 bln in July

Statistics Lithuania informs that, based on non-final data obtained from customs declarations, Intrastat reporting and VAT returns data, exports in July 2014 amounted to LTL 7.4 billion, imports – LTL 8.1 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to LTL 4 billion. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to LTL 0.7 billion.

Over the month (July 2014, against June), exports increased by 4, imports – by 7.3%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products (22.7%) and boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (30.3%). The increase in imports was influenced by a 15.6% increase in imports of crude oil, 24.8% – boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof. Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 0.9, imports – by 5.4%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 5.9%, mineral products excluded – decreased by 1.1%.

 

Over the year (July 2014, against July 2013), exports increased by 5.4%, while imports decreased by 0.3%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (80.4%) and boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (25.5%). The decrease in imports was influenced by a decrease in imports of crude oil (29.7%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports increased by 12.4 and 10.5% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 1.5, mineral products excluded – increased by 6.5%.

 

Export and import in 2009–2014, January-July

In January–July 2014, against January–July 2013, exports decreased by 2.3, imports – by 0.1%. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (30.5%) and ground vehicles (23.5%). The decrease in imports was influenced by a decrease in imports of crude oil (24.2%) and ground vehicles (14%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports increased by 6.7 and 10% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 9.4%, mineral products excluded – grew by 3.6%. Exports to Russia increased by 6.4%, while exports of goods of Lithuanian origin – decreased by 11.7%, which was conditioned by a decrease in exports of milk and dairy products (12.8%), ground vehicles (48.6%) and meat and edible offal (26.3%).

 

In January–July 2014, the most important Lithuania's partners in exports were Russia (21.4%), Latvia (9.2%), Poland (8.2%), and Germany (7.5%), in imports – Russia (21.8%), Germany (10.6%), Poland (9.5%), and Latvia (6.6%). Most of the goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Germany (10.7%), Latvia (8.3%), Poland (7.3%), and the Netherlands (7.1%).

 

In January–July 2014, the largest share in Lithuania's exports and imports fell within mineral products (17.4 and 25.4% respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (14.6 and 16%), and products of the chemical or allied industries (9.4 and 11%). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within mineral products (25.7%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (10.1%), live animals and animal products (8.3%), and plastics and articles thereof (8.2%).
