Estonia records EU's highest increase in producer prices in July

Producer prices in Latvia increased by 0.4% in July 2014 from June, which was the third highest increase among the European Union member states for which data are available. The highest month-on-month increases in producer prices were recorded in Estonia – 1.7%, and Cyprus – 1.1% reports LETA, referring to the EU statistical office Eurostat.

Belgium posted the steepest decrease in producer prices – 0.9%, Denmark had 0.8% and Greece 0.7%.

 

Producer prices in Lithuania, Malta, Poland and Slovakia remained unchanged in July.


In all the EU member states for which data are available, producer prices in July reduced 0.2% from June, whereas eurozone recorded a 0.1% decrease.

 

Compared to July 2013, producer prices in the EU decreased 1.3% and 1.1% in the euro area.

 

Year-on-year, Latvia, Romania and Sweden registered the highest increases in producer prices – 0.2% each.

 

The largest decreases were reported by Belgium – 5.7%, Lithuania – 4.8%, and Slovakia – 2.9%.

 

In Estonia, producer prices increased 0.1%, whereas producer prices in Greece remained unchanged.
