Tax Board statistics indicate growing middle class in Estonia

Statistics reported by the Tax and Customs Board in Estonia indicate that the number of people earning less than 3,200 euros per year is falling, as is the number of people earning more than 380,000 euros, writes LETA/Äripäev.

103,666 individuals declared an income of less than 3,200 earned in 2013, which is more than 12,000 persons less than a year before.

 

The number of people earning more than 3,200 euros and less than 6,400 euros has also fallen by approximately 10,000, to 117,191.

 

On the other hand, only three persons took home an income of one million euros or more, which is half as many as in 2012. This number has been fluctuating since the economic crisis, and was up to 27 in 2008.

 

The middle-class income brackets have grown; the number of those earning more than 6,400 euros and less than 32,000 euros increased by 11,000 persons to 313,843, accounting for 56.4 per cent of all earners. The group with income ranging from 32,000 euros to 64,000 euros and from 64,000 euros to 192,000 euros grew as well to 18,450 persons and 3,107 persons, respectively.
