SEB: Estonians spend more on cars than Latvians and Lithuanians

BC, Tallinn, 27.08.2014.Print version
A pan-Baltic study carried out by SEB indicates that more than half of people planning to buy cars in Latvia and Lithuania do not intend to spend more than 5,000 euros, writes LETA/Postimees Online.

Among Estonians, 20% of respondents are planning to buy cars with prices ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 euros, whereas in Latvia and Lithuania, these people account for approximately 10% of prospective car buyers.

“As in Estonia consumers buy newer and more expensive cars, leasing is still the most popular choice for financing car purchases, used by more than half of those buying cars,” said Managing Director of SEB Liising Ainar Leppänen. He added that leasing is the most popular option in buying brand new cars.

In all three Baltic States, the most important factors in choosing the leasing contract provider are the amounts involved in monthly charges, interest rates and transparency of additional costs related to leasing contracts.

A total of 2,754 persons were polled for the survey in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
