Number of job vacancies reduced in Lithuania in Q2

In the second quarter of 2014, compared with the first quarter, the number of job vacancies in Lithuania reduced by 800 or 6.6%. However, the situation remained better than last year, reports LETA/ELTA.

According to the data of Statistics Lithuania, the number of job vacancies increased by 2,600 or 29.8%, compared with the same period of 2013.

 

The number of job vacancies in the second quarter of 2014, compared with the first quarter of 2014, decreased the most in enterprises engaged in transportation and storage, by 600 and in trade, by 400. But in enterprises engaged in professional, scientific and technical activities it increased by 400.

 

By the end of the second quarter there were 11,500 vacant jobs for salaried employees.

Most job vacancies were in enterprises engaged in industrial activities – 2,600, or 22.4% of all vacancies; in public administration and defence, mandatory social insurance – 1,400 or 12.3% of total; in transportation and storage – 1,200 or 10.8% of total.

 

By the end of the second quarter of 2014, the level of job vacancies stood at 0.9%, by 0.1%age points less than in the first quarter, but by 0.2 percentage points more year-on-year.

 

The highest job vacancy rate in the second quarter was in service activities – 2.2%; information and communications, as well as financial and insurance activities – 2% each. The lowest rate of job vacancies was in companies engaged in real estate operations – 0.2%.
