Latvia registers EU's 3rd largest reduction in industrial production output in June

Industrial production in Latvia in June 2014, as compared to the respective period in 2013, decreased by 2%, which was the third largest decline among all European Union (EU) member states, the EU's statistical office Eurostat said on Wednesday, cites LETA.

Greece saw the largest year-on-year decline in industrial production output in June – by 6.9%, followed by Malta – by 3.8%.

 

The steepest increase in industrial production in June, was registered in Hungary – a 11.3% increase, Romania had a 9.9% increase, Slovakia – 7.5% increase.

 

Industrial production amount in Estonia increased by 1%, but in Lithuania – by 2.9%.

 

Industrial production output in all EU countries for which data are available increased 0.7% year-on-year, whereas in eurozone countries it remained unchanged.

 

Meanwhile, industrial production output in the EU and eurozone in June, as compared to May, registered a decline of 0.1% and 0.3% respectively.

 

The largest increase, as compared to the previous month, was registered in Malta – a 5.2% increase, in Denmark – a 2.4% increase, and in Hungary – a 1.8% increase.

 

The largest decline was registered in Ireland – a 16.5% decline, in the Netherlands – a 3% decline, in Lithuania – a 2.7% decline.

 

Industrial production output in Estonia decreased by 1.2% from May, but Latvia saw a 1.3% reduction.
