Latvia registers EU's smallest increase in exports in 4 months

Latvia's exports in the first four months of the year 2014 increased by 1% when compared with the same period last year, which is the smallest increase in the EU, according to Eurostat, cites LETA.

Similar to Latvia, Belgium also saw a 1% increases in exports in the first four months of the year.

 

According to seasonally unadjusted data, the steepest increase in export was recorded in Croatia – 10%, the Czech Republic – nine%, as well as Luxembourg and Romania – 8% each.

 

The steepest decreases in export were registered in Malta – 24%, Cyprus – 12%, Lithuania and Bulgaria – 8% each, and Estonia – 7%.

 

Latvia's imports reduced 4% in January-April, year-on-year, which, together with Estonia, is the third largest reduction.

 

The largest year-on-year decreases in import were recorded in Malta – 17%, as well as Lithuania – 7%.

 

Meanwhile, the largest increase in imports was registered in Romania – by 8%, the Czech Republic – 7%, and Ireland – 6%.
