Latvia registers EU's lowest decrease in industrial production output in May

Industrial production in Latvia in May 2014, as compared to the respective period in 2013, decreased by 0.2%, which is the lowest decline among all European Union (EU) member states, the EU's statistical office Eurostat said on Monday, cites LETA.

The steepest increase in industrial production in May, was registered in Romania – a 15% increase, Lithuania had a 10.2% increase, Hungary – 9.5% increase.

 

The largest industrial production decrease, on the other hand, was registered in Malta – 11.9%, followed by France – 4.2%, and Finland – a 2.9% decline.

 

Industrial production amount in Estonia increased by 2.2%.

 

Industrial production output in all EU countries for which data are available increased 1.1% year-on-year, whereas eurozone countries recorded an increase of 0.5%.

 

Meanwhile, industrial production output in the EU and eurozone in May, as compared to April, registered a decline of 0.1%.

 

The largest increase, as compared to the previous month, was registered in Romania – a 2.6% increase, in Lithuania – a 1.6% increase, in the Netherlands – a 1.1% increase.


The largest decline was registered in Portugal – a 3.6% decline, in Sweden – a 3.2% decline, in Denmark – a 2.1% decline.

 

Industrial production output in Estonia increased by 0.9% from April.
