BC, Tallinn, 11.07.2014.Print version
As of end of June 2014, a total of 27,677 persons were registered as unemployed, writes LETA/Postimees Online.

This is 4.4% of the labour force from age 16 to pension age.

4,403 newly unemployed persons registered as such in the Unemployment Insurance Fund in June, whereas during the month 3,876 persons found employment through the fund or started their own businesses.

On the basis of previous months’ comparisons with data on unemployment insurance tax revenue, it can be stated that actual number of people finding employment is even higher, as not all people inform the Unemployment Insurance Fund of having found new jobs.

The registered unemployment rate was the highest in the Valga County (8.4%), Ida-Viru County (8.3%) and the lowest in the Tartu County (3.3%) and in the Harju County (3.4%).

In comparison with May, fewer new job vacancies were advertised. A total of 3,966 new job offers were registered, 60% of which were entered through the Unemployment Insurance Fund’s web portal.

In June, 9,979 unemployed or 30% of the total number of unemployed during the month received unemployment insurance benefit. The average amount of compensation was 389 euros, and the total payments exceed EUR 3.4 million.

7277 people received unemployment benefits in the amount of EUR 112 received in June, it is about 22% of the total number of unemployed during the month.
