About a quarter workers in Baltics receive "under-the-table" salaries

One-fourth or 25% of employees in Latvia receive partly unofficial or "under-the-table" salaries, a study carried out by Cvmarket.lv indicates, cites LETA/Nozare.lv.

In Estonia, the proportion of employees who receive "under-the-table" salaries, is 20%, while in Lithuania – 29%.

 

9% of those who receive unofficial salaries, said that they receive them in full amount, while 8% said they receive only a small portion of their salary unofficially. Another 8% of respondents said that the majority of their salary is paid unofficially.

 

According to Cvmarket.lv marketing manager Inga Daliba, in the last quarter of 2013, the average net salary in Estonia was EUR 785, while in Latvia and Lithuania it was EUR 530 and EUR 524 respectively.

 

The study was conducted in all three Baltic States, surveying 853 people online.
