Lithuania's foreign trade deficit amounted to LTL 434 mln in April

In April 2014, the foreign trade deficit amounted to LTL 433.6 million (EUR 125.7 million), narrowing by LTL 146.2 million (EUR 42.4 million) month on month, the Bank of Lithuania informs, cites LETA/ELTA.

Export and import of goods grew by 5.1% and 2.6% respectively in the reference period. In January-April 2014, the balance of trade deficit increased by LTL 151.3 million (EUR 43.8 million), or 11.4% year on year. The export of goods contracted by 9%, while the imports – 8.1% in the reference period.

 

As in April 2014 the export of services contracted more (LTL 50 million or EUR 14.5 million) than the import of services (LTL 42.9 million or EUR 12.4 million), the balance of services surplus declined by LTL 7.1 million (EUR 2.06 million), or 1.9% month on month.

 

Year on year, the export of services contracted by 0.4%, while the import of services grew by 0.8%; therefore, the surplus in the balance of services narrowed by LTL 15.4 million (EUR 4.5 million), or 3.9% in the reference period.

 

In January-April 2014, the export of services expanded by 4.4%, while the import of services – 6.1%; as a result, the balance of services surplus decreased by 0.5% year on year.
