Lithuania registers EU's third largest drop in industrial production output in February

Compared to February 2013, industrial production output in Latvia decreased by 1.7% in February 2014 – the fourth largest reduction in the European Union, according to the EU's statistical office Eurostat. The largest year-on-year reductions were registered in the Netherlands – by 8.9%, Finland – by 5.4%, and Lithuania – by 2.1%, writes LETA.

Meanwhile, the largest year-on-year increases in industrial production output were registered in Slovakia – nine%, Romania – 8.9%, and Hungary – 8.2%.

 

Industrial production in Estonia rose by 0.2% in February.

 

In all EU member states for which data are available, industrial production output increased 2.1 in February, but in the euro area – by 1.7%.

 

In comparison with the previous month, industrial production output increased 0.4% in the EU and 0.2% in the euro area in February.

 

The steepest month-on-month increases in industrial production output were observed in Malta – 5.4%, Ireland – five%, and Lithuania – 2.5%.

 

The largest month-on-month decreases were reported by Croatia – 2.8%, Estonia – 2.2%, and Romania – 1.3%.

 

Latvia registered a 0.9% increase in industrial production in February when compared to January.
