Slight reduction in unemployment level registered in Latvia in March

After four consecutive months of growth, there was a slight reduction in the unemployment level in March 2014, reports LETA, referring to the State Employment Agency's data.

The unemployment level in March reduced 0.1% to 9.8% of the economically active population.

 

95,00 people had the status of unemployed at the end of March 2014. The lowest unemployment rate was registered in Riga Region – 6.2%. Latgale Province had the highest unemployment rate – 19.4%.

 

The unemployment level in Zemgale Province is at 10.2%, Vidzeme Province – 11.4%, and Kurzeme Province – 12.2%.

 

Among Latvia's largest cities, Riga and Valmiera had the lowest unemployment rates – 5.7% and 6.9% respectively. The highest unemployment rate was recorded in Rezekne – 17%.
