Latvia has EU's shortest male life expectancy at age 65

According to the European Union's statistical office Eurostat data, the average male life expectancy at age 65 in Latvia is the shortest in the European Union, according to the Central Statistical Bureau's data, cites LETA/Nozare.lv.

Life expectancy for men at age 65 is 13.6 years in Latvia, as compared to the EU's average figure of 17.7 years. In Lithuania, the figure is 14.1 years, in Estonia – 14.8 years.

 

The average life expectancy for women at age 65 in Latvia is 18.5 years – longer than in Romania (17.7 years) and Hungary (18.1 years). In Lithuania, the figure is 19.2 years, in Estonia – 20.3 years, and the average EU figure is 21.1 years.
