A research study conducted by the "headhunter" firm CV – Online Latvia shows that 30% of the workforce in Latvia in 2013 experienced pay raises, and this in turn attests to improvement in the overall situation, reports LETA/Nozare.lv.

The average hike in wages was 5 percent, the survey reveals, with it mostly due to bonuses and cash awards. This is not to say that there was no increase in basic wage – there was, as Aivis Brodins from CV – Online Latvia, reports.

The biggest wages get middle and top level specialists (starting at 1000 euros per month), financial professionals (1800 euros and more), IT specialists (750 euros and more), project managers and sales professionals. The lowest wages (an average 250 euros per month) are in the service sector, health, education and agriculture (an average of 300 euros).

26.5% Latvia's residents believe that their salaries are adequate to the performance, and 73% – they are too low.

According to the Central Statistical Bureau, the average net wage in Latvia in 2013 was EUR 516.
