Latvia's GDP per capita in 2012 – third lowest in EU

The gross domestic product (GDP) per capita expressed in terms of purchasing power standards in Latvia was 62% of the average GDP per capita in the European Union last year, or the third lowest in the EU, according to the EU statistical office Eurostat data released today, writes LETA.

On the other hand, Bulgaria registered the lowest GDP per capita in the EU last year – 47% of the EU average. Romania registered 49% of the EU average last year.

 

Lithuania had the seventh lowest GDP per capita in the EU in 2012 – 70% of the EU average, while Estonia had the sixth lowest – 68% of the EU average.

 

Luxembourg had the highest GDP per capita in the EU in 2012 – 271% of the EU average, followed by the Netherlands – 131% of the EU average, and Ireland – 129% of the EU average.
