Nearly a half Estonian entrepreneurs don’t feel competent enough in IT sphere

A fresh study on possibilities of expanding the use of e-commerce and e-trade in Estonia indicated that nearly a half of Estonian entrepreneurs don’t feel competent enough in the IT sphere and that is one major obstacle in implementing e-solutions in companies, LETA/Äripäev.ee reports.

90% of Estonian consumers have bought goods or used services via e-channels. Both entrepreneurs and consumers think that the state has a major role in developing wider use of e-solutions.

Another main obstacle for developing e-commerce besides shortage of knowledge is the opinion of entrepreneurs that e-solutions won't make the company more effective and they think of it as an additional cost rather than investment. Smaller companies also lack financial means to commission development work.

Postimees Online added that according to the study, commissioned by the economy and communications ministry, 86% of Estonian companies use IT solutions in at least one business process. The most common processes covered with IT were accounting and financial management. 69% of companies use ICT solutions to automatise processes between companies.

80% of companies think the state has a certain role in developing ICT in business.
