Nowadays, in order to make the right decision, it is important to know potential solutions, emphasized Berzins, noting the importance of FICIL recommendations. Latvia is a small and open economy. Therefore, for Latvia to be competitive as a member state of the European Union, it is necessary to come up with a way to develop particularly rapidly. This is one of the main reasons behind Latvia improving its cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries and the Central Asian countries, explained the president.

The sides also discussed various goals that must be achieved to continue creating an attractive investment environment in Latvia, and specific challenges that must be overcome as soon as possible. Latvia's economic figures are excellent, however, for this situation to be sustainable, improvements are needed, emphasized FICIL Chairman Jerry Wirth.

FICIL representatives pointed out that sustainable development requires several preconditions – fair competition, transparency and stable rules of the game. According to the organization, to achieve these preconditions, structural reforms in education, state administration, health care and welfare are required. Making sure that all goals are fulfilled and do not remain at the level of ideas is more important than setting priorities, explained the organization.
