Print versionAccording to a study carried out by the Baltic automobile ad web-site Autoplius, Estonia has the highest proportion of automobiles in the Baltics – 0.51 automobiles per person, Lithuania on average has 0.40 automobiles per person, while Latvia has 0.33 automobiles per person, or approximately one automobile per every three persons, informs LETA/Nozare.lv.

There is also a similar picture when looking at the number of new automobiles purchased, according to the Autoplius survey. In the first quarter of 2013, 2,800 new automobiles were registered in Latvia, which is about 200 less when compared to the same period last year. Lithuania registered a similar reduction in new automobile registrations. However, there were 5,400 new automobiles purchased in Estonia in the first three months of the year, which makes up almost 50% of the total number of new cars registered in the Baltics in the first quarter.
The Autoplius survey also points out the most popular car brands in the Baltics – "Volkswagen", followed by "Audi", and either "Opel" in third in Lithuania and Latvia, or "Ford" in Estonia.
