Kirsis emphasized that more emphasis must also be put on expanding industry, and that the education of engineers must be supported, as there is no unemployment in this profession.
The committee meeting also reviewed a recent report from the World Bank about Latvia's employment situation. Welfare Ministry State Secretary Ieva Jaunzeme explained that it has become harder to involve older persons and persons with a low-education level in the job market. She explained that it is easier to involve, for example, educated mothers in the job market.
The committee's chairman Romualds Razuks (Reform Party) pointed out that the World Bank's report has dispelled several myths, like companies not being able to find adequate employees.
