Latvian businessmen work longer hours than Estonian and Lithuanian

Latvian businessmen, compared to their colleagues in Estonia and Lithuania, work longer hours, according to "The Pulse of Economy 2013" survey carried out by the auditor company KPMG Baltics, informs LETA/Nozare.lv.

Most business community members in the Baltic States work between nine and eleven hours a day. In Latvia, 73% of businessmen work between nine and eleven hours a day, in Lithuania – 69%, in Estonia – 65%. 22% of Latvian, 25% of Lithuanian and 25% of Estonian businessmen work between seven and eight hours a day.

 

Latvian businessmen dedicate less time to physical activities than Estonian businessmen. However, they are more active than their Lithuanian colleagues.

Gym visits are the most popular physical activity among Latvian businessmen, Estonian businessmen prefer cross-country skiing, Lithuanian businessmen – swimming.

 

Physical activities and exercising are important for staying fit in the business and everyday life. About 68%of the Estonian managers do some sports at least 3 to 4 hours each week while the corresponding figure in Latvia is 44% and in Lithuania 41%. In Lithuania the share of non-exercising respondents is the highest – 21%, with 13% in Latvia and 2% in Estonia.

 

The most popular activities in Estonia are cross-country skiing, cycling and running; in Latvia gym/fitness, cycling and exercising, and in Lithuania swimming, tennis and running.
