Nearly a tenth jobs in Estonian ministries are vacant

Print versionThere are over 200 vacancies in Estonian ministries at present, which the ministries say does not hamper their activities at all, LETA/Õhtuleht reports.

There are 2,737 civil service jobs in Estonian 11 ministries, of which 204 are vacant at the moment.
The interior ministry has the most of vacancies, 33 while the education and science ministry and defence ministry have the least, six each.
The reasons for not hiring people to fill the vacancies are different. For example the foreign ministry, which has the most of civil servant jobs, 525, and 26 vacancies, says that their vacancies are caused mainly by maternity leaves and people leaving the service and the majority of the jobs will be filled by rotation.
