To solve unemployment problems public bodies, business, academics and non-governmental organizations have defined the main directions for increasing employment in Lithuania: by encouraging business and creating new jobs, reports LETA/ELTA.

Ministry of Social Security and Labour says that concrete measures should ensure the development of skills that labour market demands. Also single general employment policy should be drafted.

To encourage business certain measures have been proposed: to decrease labour taxation, to transfer labour tax burden to the taxes that are less harmful to economic growth and job creation, also to decrease the general regulatory burden, to increase the flexibility of industrial relations, to provide new development programmes for export, industry, services and tourism sectors.
