In April, foreign trade deficit amounted to LTL 51.8 mln

Statistics Lithuania informs that, based on non-final data obtained from customs declarations, Intrastat reporting and VAT returns data, exports in March 2013 amounted to LTL 7476.9 million, imports – LTL 7528.7 million. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to LTL 4668.1 million. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to LTL 51.8 million.

Over the month (in March 2013, against February 2013), exports increased by 11.9%. This was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products – by 11.5, ground vehicles – 32, fertilisers – 32.9%. Imports increased by 6.5%; this was influenced by an increase in imports of various chemical products – 3.9 times, ground vehicles – 21.6%, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof – 11.2%. Mineral products excluded, exports and imports of goods increased by 12.1 and 13.7% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 9.7, mineral products excluded – 9.8%.

 

In March 2013, against March 2012, exports grew by 18.4%. This was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products – by 36.7%, cereals – 2.8 times, ground vehicles – 27.1%. Imports increased by 2%; this was determined by an increase in imports of ground vehicles – by 12.9, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof – 10.9%. Mineral products excluded, exports and imports of goods increased by 14.2 and 6.9% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 19.1, mineral products excluded – 9.2%.


Lithuania's export and import in 2008-2013

In January–March 2013, against the same period in 2012, exports grew by 16.8%. This was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products – by 21.5%, cereals – 4 times, ground vehicles – 20.1%. Imports increased by 6.6%; this was determined by an increase in imports of boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof – by 15.8, ground vehicles – 12.4%. Mineral products excluded, exports and imports of goods increased by 15.7 and 10.6% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 16.7, mineral products excluded – 12.6%.

 

In January–March 2013, the most important partners in exports were Russia (18%), Latvia (8.7%), the United Kingdom (8.1%), and Germany (8%), in imports – Russia (35.1%), Germany (9.3%), Poland (9%), and Latvia (5.5%). Most of goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to the United Kingdom (11.9%), Germany (10.6%), the Netherlands (7.8%), and Estonia (7.5%).

 

In January–March 2013, the largest share in exports and imports fell within mineral products (26.4 and 36.8% respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (10 and 11.4%), products of the chemical or allied industries (9.2 and 9.7%). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within mineral products (37.2%), products of the chemical or allied industries (8.8%), and miscellaneous manufactured articles (7.3%).
