BC, Vilnius, 28.03.2013.Print version
Lithuanian Minister of Finance Rimantas Sadzius supports the practice used in Switzerland where politicians are forbidden to agitate the public to support one or the other decision. The minister says that people should be informed simply by explaining the advantages and the drawbacks of the issue, reports LETA/ELTA.

"True, the best way to persuade is not by using playful, colourful video clips or advertisements but by doing it honestly, appropriately and presenting information in comprehensible manner. It is our goal, we understand the persuasion of the public in this way," said the minister in an interview to the radio Ziniu Radijas on Thursday.

Rimantas Sadzius was asked whether Lithuania will not be trapped after the euro introduction, but the minister said he did not think so, on the contrary he claimed to see serious euro zone perspective.

"The euro area during the period of its existence has proven its strength, as paradoxical as it sounds, while fighting with obstacles. There were more than one emergencies, but the euro zone, I dare to say would come out strengthened, with a new insight, with a new perspective, seeing the work it has to perform. I see serious euro area perspective. This project is strong," said the minister in an interview to the radio Ziniu Radijas.

As reported, the Government set out to introduce the euro as of 2015. In order to achieve this goal, the Government established the Committee on Coordination which consists of Minister of the PM, the minister of Finance and the chairman of Bank of Lithuania.
