Already more than 1000 Latvian babies have been born in Great Britain and Ireland in January-June 2012, newspaper "Neatkariga" reports.

According to the Foreign Ministry's data, 994 Latvian babies have been born in Great Britain and 170 in Ireland so far this year, writes LETA.

Balticireland.ie editor in chief Laima Ozola told Neatkariga that the safe social environment and benefits was one of the reasons why Latvian families in Ireland opt for having a baby.

Furthermore, according to the portal's data, increasingly many grandmothers are leaving for Ireland to help raise their grandchildren, which guarantees that Latvian babies born there will have a good command of Latvian when they grow up.
