Government: minimum wage to remain at LVL 200 in 2013

Nina Kolyako, BC, Riga, 24.07.2012.Print version
Today, the government of Latvia agreed that the minimum monthly wage will remain at LVL 200 in 2013.

The Welfare Ministry believes that, taking into account the current situation on Latvia's labor market, the minimum monthly wage must be retained at LVL 200 to promote the integration of less qualified workers into the job market and lessen structural unemployment risks, writes LETA.

The Welfare Ministry's motion is also supported by the Latvian Employers' Confederation and the Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia.

The minimum hourly rate will be adjusted from LVL 1.189 to LVL 1.203.
