Estonia’s natural growth rate positive in 2010 over 20 years

According to the data of the population facts department of the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Estonia’s natural growth rate was positive in 2010 over 20 years, LETA/National Broadcasting reports.

15,881 births were registered in 2010 in Estonia as well as 15,847 deaths which means. In December however 1,415 people died, by 145 more than were born. The natural growth rate was positive in 2010 mainly because the number of deaths decreased – by 354 people less than in 2009 while the number of births was by 3 less than in 2009.

 

In 2010, the birth of 8,198 boys and 7,683 girls was registered.

 

The most popular boys’ names in 2010 were Oliver, Rasmus, Markus, Martin, Sander, Marten, Kaspar, Oskar, Robin and Artjom. The most occurring girls’ names in 2010 were Sofia, Sandra, Laura, Mirtel, Alisa, Maria, Lisandra, Polina, Milana, Anna and Elisabeth.

 

5,095 marriages were concluded and 2,655 divorces were registered in vital statistics offices.

 

In 2009, 15,884 births, 5,409 marriages, 2,657 divorces and 16,201 deaths were registered.
