Number of guests in Lithuanian accommodation establishments increased by 4.3% in Q2
Print versionThe majority of guests were from Poland – 49.1 thousand (in II quarter 2009, 44.1 thousand), Germany – 33.8 thousand (in II quarter 2009, 35.4 thousand), Russia – 22.1 thousand (in II quarter 2009, 18.4 thousand), Latvia – 19.5 thousand (in II quarter 2009, 18.6 thousand), Belarus – 15.8 thousand (in II quarter 2009, 11.5 thousand), Finland – 11.1 thousand (in II quarter 2009 – 10.8 thousand), Estonia – 9.2 thousand (in II quarter 2009, 10.1 thousand), the United Kingdom – 8.5 thousand (in II quarter 2009, 7.8 thousand).

Accommodation establishments of Druskininkai muncipality had 46.7 thousand guests, which is by 16.7% more than in II quarter 2009; in Birštonas municipality there were 6.1 thousand (by 35.5% more) guests accommodated. The number of guests in accommodation establishments of Neringa and Palanga municipalities decreased: in Neringa municipality – by 3.8% (9.1 thousand guests accommodated), in Palanga muncipality – by 1.9% (40.2 thousand guests accommodated).
In I half-year 2010, against the same period of 2009, accommodation establishments had by 1.2% more guests (641.1 thousand).
In II quarter 2010, against the same period of 2009, hotels and guesthouses accommodated by 5.3% more guests; the number of foreigners increased by 4.6%. In II quarter 2010, the room occupancy rate of Vilnius hotel and guesthouse stood at 38.1% (in II quarter 2009, 37.4%).
The number of guests accommodated in hotels and guesthouses in I half-year 2010, against the same period of 2009, increased by 2.4%.
In II quarter 2010, Vilnius hotels and guesthouses accommodated 147 thousand guests, or by 0.2% more than in the same period of 2009. The number of foreigners amounted to 125.4 thousand, or by 1.1% more than in the same period of 2009. In II quarter 2010, the room occupancy rate of Vilnius hotels and guesthouses stood at 51% (in II quarter 2009, 50.4%).

Concepts
Accommodation establishment – any quarters (whether for collective or private accommodation) where guests (tourists) are accommodated (with an overnight stay) for a short period of time on a permanent or temporary basis.
Guest – a person who arrives at (leaves) a collective accommodation establishment and checks in (out).
