Number of visitors in Latvian hotels increased by 8.3% in Q2

In comparison with the 2nd quarter of 2009, number of visitors in hotels and other accommodation establishments¹ in the 2nd quarter of 2010 increased by 8.3% and comprised 320.0 thsd people, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau (CSB). Of all visitors 32% were Latvian residents and 68% – foreign visitors. Number of foreign visitors grew by 4.8%. The most notable growth was observed among visitors from Russia – 46%.

The highest share of the foreign tourists stayed in Riga – 80% and Jurmala – 8%. The highest share of the Latvian residents stayed in Riga – 23%, Liepaja – 9%, Ventspils – 9% and Jurmala – 8%.

 

At the end of the 2nd quarter 15.3 thsd rooms and 34.7 thsd beds were available in accommodation establishments.

establishments in breakdown by countries

 

¹ Every month CSB carries out survey on hotels and other accommodation establishments which compiles information on Latvian accommodation establishments, excluding State specialized sanatoriums and convalescent homes, which provide health care services for State. The survey includes hotels with at least 4 rooms and other collective accommodation establishments with at least 5 rooms.
