SEB: Baltic countries to tighten their belts in 2010

Market instability is increased by the doubts whether the government will be able to take serious decisions in order to attract new private investment into the country. However, in their scenario, analysts predict that the countries will manage to maintain stable of events in its development scenario predicts that countries will still maintain a stable national currency exchange rate, writes LETA.
Estonia was announced the leader of economic recovery in the Baltic region. This year, the country's GDP will decrease by 14%, next year it will remain unchanged, and in 2011 Estonian economy will increase by 4%.
According to SEB analysts, Latvian economy will decrease by 18%. Next year, the country's economy will shrink by 3%, and in 2011 the GDP should increase by 4%.
SEB Experts predict that Lithuanian economy will decrease by 15.5% this year, 3% next year, and in 2011 it should increase by 4%.
SEB analysts noted that it is realistic for Estonia to join the euro zone in 2011. Currently, the country meets four of the five Maastricht criteria without major difficulties and the adoption of the euro can only be prevent by the country's budget deficit that currently stands at maximum – 3% of GDP.
