Survey: majority of residents believe that economic situation in Latvia is grim

According to the latest public opinion survey, being held by "DnB Nord Banka", most people still believe that the economic situation in Latvia is grim, informs LETA.

58% of respondents said that the current economic situation in Latvia is very bad, which though is slightly less than in June – 61%.

 

The survey results also reveal that 82% of respondents believe that the Latvian economy is heading the wrong, and just 6% believe that Latvia is on the right track.

 

31% of respondents in July said that the economic situation in Latvia is rather bad than good, and 9% described it as mediocre.

 

68% said that the economic situation is in decline, compared to 74% in June, and 26% said that the situation is not changing, when in June 21% said so.

 

Only 13% of residents said in July that the economic situation in Latvia would improve in a year; 47% said that it would get worse yet, compared to 56% in June.

 

46% of respondents also said that they are completely dissatisfied with the government's work.

 

13% of respondents believe their financial situation will improve in a year (9% in June), 32% said that it would probably not change (28%), whereas 36% said that their financial situation would not improve in a year's time.

 

The survey also reveals that 63% of Latvian residents believe that finding a good job in Latvia is very hard, which is slightly more than in June.
