Bank profits in Latvia continue to grow

Print versionProfits of Latvia's commercial banks in the first four months of this year, have amounted to LVL 118.2 million, according to the Bank of Latvia's (LB) provisional data.
As LETA was informed by LB press secretary Martins Gravitis, it is LVL 3.5 million or 3.1% increase, comparing with the respective period of time last year.
As reported, banks in Latvia earned LVL 88.4 million profit in the first quarter of the year, which was one million or 1.1% fall, comparing with 2007.
There are 21 local and three foreign banks operating in Latvia.
