Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 43 percent of Latvian residents have changed their summer vacation plans this year, canceling their planned trips abroad and also here in Latvia, informs LETA, according to the results of a survey conducted by Ferratum Group.

30 percent of the surveyed Latvian residents have canceled foreign trips, but 13 percent have also given up on domestic travel plans. 18 percent have also canceled plans to buy a car this year, while 13 percent had planned to buy a new home, but decided to postpone these plans as well.

"The reason for canceling travel plans could be due to the fact that 13 percent of respondents have lost their jobs and are currently unemployed due to Covid-19 redundancies, while 17 percent have recently had their salaries reduced and 7 percent of those surveyed are on sick leave," explains Artis Berzins, head of Ferratum Group's representative office in Latvia.

Respondents who are planning on going on trips around Latvia or abroad during the summer holidays, say they have decreased their spending by about 54 percent this year compared to last year.
