Job vacancies soar 2.3 times in Lithuania w-o-w

Employers registered 6,700 vacancies with the Lithuanian Employment Service last week, a rise of 2.3 times from the previous week, bringing the total number of vacancies registered since the beginning of the lockdown to 49,400, the employment agency said, LETA/BNS.
Specialists of the Employment Service last week helped 4,500 people gain employment, up 43.3 percent w-o-w.
Some 216,400 unemployed persons have been registered in Lithuania as of Tuesday, accounting for 12.6 percent of working age population, up by 0.5 percentage point from a week ago. The number of jobseekers has soared by 56,000, or 34.6 percent, since the declaration of the state of emergency and the lockdown.
