BC, Riga, 06.07.2020.Print version
The demand for paper bags at Rimi supermarkets has increased by almost 70%, Regina Ikala, the public relations manager of Rimi Latvia, informed LETA.
She noted that in a survey conducted by Rimi last year on consumer habits in the Baltic states and Latvia, an average of 75% of respondents expressed the opinion that it is important for retailers to implement environmentally friendly solutions to reduce the impact on the environment.
According to Rimi, in the first four months of this year, the demand for paper bags has increased by almost 70% compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, the company's data show that buyers are less and less choosing plastic bags. In the first quarter of this year, sales of plastic bags have decreased by 20% compared to the corresponding period of 2019.
